Transfer Your Domain Name Out
While we are always sad to see a customer go, we know there are times when it does happen. Things to
consider before you transfer your hosting out of MVA.NET are:
- is your new ISP a real ISP that truly understands hosting and email?
- does your new ISP handle mail spooling? This is very important for not losing emails when
your server is down.
- does your new ISP back up their web servers on a regular basis?
- is your new ISP accessable and user friendly? If you need to ftp to your site, add a new email
address, change a setting or a contact record, will you be able to easily accomplish this without a
lot of runaround?
If you cannot answer yes to all of the above, you might want to consider leaving your hosting with
MVA.NET even if you have an internet connection with someone else who "includes" hosting with their
service.
But when you do need to move away, be assured MVA.NET is a professional organization with a very
vested interest in their reputation. We will gladly assist you in your transfer to the best of our
ability. There are different scenarios for transfering out your domain and most of them require your
new ISP to take the initiative. If your new ISP has an account in BulkRegister, then MVA will most
likely need to initiate the transfer for you. If MVA has been hosting your domain name, but it is
not in our registry, then we cannot actually enable the transfer process for you. However, we will be
glad to advise you, simply call and give us all the information available on who does have your domain
name.
Please remember transfering a domain can be a frustrating experience or a simple one and many factors
enter into which experience you will have, including user name and passwords available, type of
registry you are transfering in or out of, type of authorization on the account, admin email address -
is it real, is it checked by someone you can still contact? Often times companies claiming to know
about transfering your domain and hosting it, really are not in that business every day and can make
quite a mess of your transfer and your website. Please always be careful who you chose to care for
your very visible, public window on your company and the handling of email communication so vital to
your company.
You can start the process by emailing hostmaster@mva.net or
