1. To access your dial-up networking settings, first
double click on My
Computer then double click on Dial-Up Networking.
Once inside the
dial-up networking window, you should already have a dial-up
connection
already created (ex., MVA.NET). If not, click
here for help on how to create one.
If you do, right click on your connection and select "properties".

2. Now that you are in your dial-up networking connection
properties,
you can now adjust the settings so that you may connect correctly
to MVA.NET. At the top of the new window, you should see "tabs".
The tabs
should say the following: General, Server Types, Scripting,
Mulitlink.
Information in that can be changed in this first window (General
Tab)
includes: Area Code, Telephone Number, Country Code, and Connect
Using.
If you need to change a telephone number, delete the current
number in
the box and replace it with a number that is local to you. Click here
for a list of current MVA.NET access numbers. Make sure that
the
number you select is is local to you. If you are unsure what
number is
local to you, check your phone book or call your telephone service
provider. Also, make sure that your modem appears in the Connect
Using
area.
3. Click on the Server Types tab (or button in older
versions of Windows
95). Your Type of Dial-Up Server should be "PPP:........"
(what follows
PPP: depends on your version of windows). In the Advanced
Options
section, the only box you want to have checked off is Enable
Software
Compression. In the Allowed Network Protocols section,
the only box you
want checked off is TCP/IP. After you make sure those
settings are
correct, click on the "TCP/IP Settings..." button.

4. In the TCP/IP Settings window, you should
have the following settings
with the bullet next to them.
Server Assigned IP Address
Server Assigned Name Server Addresses
Also, both boxes at the bottom of the window need to be checked
off.

When finished modifying these settings, click OK 2 times (once
on in the
TCP/IP Settings window, and once in the original properties window).
Close the Dial-Up Networking and My Computer windows, if they
are open,
and connect to the internet as usual.
